Diversity Training – Apples vs. Oranges PT II

So yet another way that the “Diverse Origins” training irritated me:

During the training the facilitator discussed stereotypes.  All around the room she posted large post it papers and gave each participant a marker.  One the top of each page was one category of “disadvantaged” people.  She asked each participant to write one stereotype that is known about each.  So she elected to go over a few, and oh how I wish she would have chosen Alaskan Natives, since I was the only obviously native person there (that doesn’t mean I was the only one mind you)… but she did not.  She chose a few and People on Public Assistance  was one of them.  She asked the people who had ever been on public assistance or had a family member on public assistance to stand up.  Oh heck, let’s continue with the orange analogy…

Here is the poor disadvantaged orange, who accepted public assistance at one point their life.

The stereotypes and assumptions made by society could have been wrong about this orange.

Now the orange did not feel bad about having been on food stamps for a few months in it’s life, never even worried about it.  But… along comes this apple, who realizes that all these stereotypes exist and really must do something about it!

So the apple tells the orange.  I really am sorry that anyone might have ever felt any of these horrible stereotypes about you and I personally apologize for that.

The poor disadvantaged orange really needed to hear that (why??) so they could feel good about being an orange on public assistance at one point in their life.  Without it, they might have never felt good about themselves and would probably carry on this feeling of pain knowing that the others thought this of them.  They really were disadvantaged you know and thank goodness the apple came along to set things right for them or they might always feel terrible.

Oh please!  The minute this exercise was over I am sure my one eyebrow was raised and my hand shot up in the air.

First of all, unless the facilitator did something directly to me (was she the one spreading all those stereotypes?) I honestly don’t expect an apology from her.  Nor do I expect one from anyone at all.  I said that I did not feel an apology was necessary, not from her since she has personally never wronged me (aside from the assault of her left-wing thinking all day long).  And I do not expect an apology from society who might be perpetrating that stereotype.  Life’s NOT fair, not everyone will adore you, not everyone will think you are the Belle of the Ball!  GET OVER IT!  That doesn’t mean I excuse bad behavior.  If someone is treating me badly, you can be rest assured I will let them know. It’s my job to let them know that, if I fall short on that, I could choose to be a disadvantaged orange for the rest of my days or NOT.

I really don’t care what others think of me based on my race, fruit type, skin type, size, social class, age, color of my hair, my political views.  That in all honesty is THEIR PROBLEM, not mine.  I choose not to own that.  Some people I encounter might be prejudiced towards me because I am Alaskan Native *gasp*!  Now for example I went to the Capital City Republican Women’s meeting the yesterday and one couple at the table would not smile at me, and had a cold appearance and demeanor towards me.  Now, if I was feeling like the disadvantaged orange, the only Alaskan Native at the event and woe is me, they might not like me, I might have wanted to leave.  But… I did not.  I sat, I smiled and sure for a second I felt uncomfortable.  But I made the decision, it is them who really don’t feel good about something (I don’t know if it is me, who knows maybe they always look like they have just sucked on some lemons and aren’t warm and engaging to everyone) but I am not going to take on ownership of how they appear to feel.  If it is me, well then the heck with them.  I might choose to sit next to them at the next meeting too.  I will smile, be cordial and be myself.  Secure in myself.  If they move, well they look like the idiots.

So the next thing that really perturbed me was this glass ceiling and women’s salaries.  The facilitator talked about the disparity in womens salaries compared to mens, asked for the rate in Alaska.  I looked it up and reported it to be .74 on the dollar.  And my mind was not as quick as I would have liked it to be.  I didn’t say this but thought about it later.  (Mind you I had a bunch of disadvantaged orange bs all dang day and I really was on overload!)   Now that is really just not fair said the disadvantaged orange to the apple.  You make .26 cents more than me for every dollar!  I am hurt and ANGRY!!!

This is numbers spinning at it’s finest.  I had spent the past few hours opening my mouth and wish I had opened my mouth on this one.

Let’s just look at these:

Now I have lived in Alaska most of my life.  Sure there are women on the fishing grounds, in the oil fields, loggers, miners, construction etc.  However I’d be a dolt to say that a lot of women just are itchin to get out there and do the work that a lot of Alaskan (and some non-Alaskan) men do.  It’s not sexist, it’s not the world treating me in an inequitable fashion.  I (and I am sure other women) just don’t want to stand on the top of a tree, bottom of a mine or on the heaving, waved hammered deck of a boat.  Plain and simple.  Do I harbor ill will against the  men that do, because they are making more money than I am???  Please… A  lot of Alaskans have families that benefit from these high paying jobs.  All of these are not single men who run around waving their paycheck in the air in front of women, just to taunt them “Nanner nanner na nooo… I make more money than you do!”  Get real.  They are men with families. and a lot of families depend on these incomes, and for those that don’t have families, they often spend the money in our state (good for the state’s economy and good for me).  Get over this glass ceiling nonsense and quit spinning numbers!  It’s people like this that spin the numbers for the CBO and keep building this fire underneath the inequity pot.  Oh you poor disadvantaged oranges….

Bottom line, I am tired of the baloney that is constantly perpetuated.  The more energy we give the travesty and tragedy of the plight of the orange, the more oranges will be in despair.  See, the more in despair–someone can come in and rescue them and look like the good guys, (when all along tee hee they don’t realize it but they were carefully herded into despair mode) and then the plan to treat them the way they need to be treated will look really great!!!

Whose fruit stand do you want to be in?  Who do you want to drive the market for oranges?  I’d suggest you read the Cloward-Piven Strategy.  Placating the masses while you create a crisis and using it to your advantage!

Until Next Time!

H20 and fishing…

One of my Facebook friends, posted this article which I thought was extremely interesting!

Please take a minute to read this…

From the article:

“It is dishonest for right-wing commentators to insist on an equivalence that does not exist. The danger of political violence in this country comes overwhelmingly from one direction — the right, not the left. The vitriolic, anti-government hate speech that is spewed on talk radio every day — and, quite regularly, at Tea Party rallies — is calibrated not to inform but to incite.”

Incite what?  Discontent with current government?  Too late!  Discontent is already here!  I read articles by leftists and they are fishing!  When talking to my clients I often stated “They are fishing, don’t take the bait.  They want you to react in a way that makes you look bad.”  I say, they have really crappy bait and the only fish I am going to fry are the ones on election day, when I cast my vote for people who will not go with the same ole party line smelly bait, but rather those that have a solid compass and who will not waver from steering the United States of America in the right direction.  Those that still believe in American values and the American Dream and American Exceptionalism!   I DISAGREE with the current direction of our government and that is my RIGHT as an American citizen!

So disagreeing with the current government is now HATE speech???? Whatever ever happened to the leftist rant of the Bush years, which I believe was “dissent was the highest form of patriotism?”

This ongoing slant on opposing views, beckons infringements forthcoming on our 1st Amendment rights. When people disagree, it is could be portrayed as a “hate crime.” I WILL NOT STOP SPEAKING OUT IF I DISAGREE!!!! There is a big difference between disagreeing and hate speeches. Although the current government only has itself to blame if people are so vehemently opposing it. …

I am not some right-wing “radical” they try to accuse of hate mongering or inciting violence. I am a hardworking American, Native American, tax paying, conservative. I am a minority, I am a woman – I disagree with the leftist politics and socialist agenda. Go figure!

The next tidbit I want to discuss is this comment left on my page in response to a link to an article:

I wrote “This disgusting saga continues, it WILL end November 2012… without FAIL” and attached the following link:

The comment given by someone I know was:

OMG is that really all we should be worried about…the tip of the flag on the floor. I don’t believe it’s any more disgusting the the prior 8 years…oh didn’t we already win the war! I rarely do this but….

Now… my response:

Hey lady… no not just it… It’s actually the least of our worries. BUT it is really disrespectful… Most military people (like my father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law) I know would never let the flag touch the ground, be hung incorrectly or any other sign of disrespect. And coming from the highest office (Commander in Chief) of our country makes it more heinous. But I agree, we have MUCH more to worry about!
Now.  This brings up something that really struck a chord in me.  So often when talking with people who are “Democrats”, liberal or leftist they make the assumption, and often erroneously, that I endorse all Republicans past and present, that I condone everything with a big old stamp of approval just because it was done by a Republican.  Now, this is rather odd to me.  Just because I oppose the current leftist government and socialist agenda does not mean I have been pleased as punch with Good Ole George W. and every Republican and their doings.
What I often see is people just joining arms with a fight they honestly believe, without checking facts.  Example:
And for those that decide to check facts, they decide to look at “reputable” sources, mainstream media, the government itself or their party’s prepared “talking points.”  Now, you add up all three and that would make a good argument.  Except, we all know that the media is really not impartial, the government will slant things the way they want and party lines are just that, party rhetoric.
I find this mentality to really illustrate why there is such polarization in America and when I happened upon that great video by Penn and Teller it really highlighted one of the biggest banes to our society and country.  What is it you ask?  Lack of independent thought, herd mentality and willingness to swallow what is offered to you, despite it being a handful of crap.
I do have a deep respect for those who will look deeper, challenge their own beliefs and check facts.  How many people do you know like that?
I suggest, if you are tired of the direction of the country–don’t take the leftist/liberal/socialist bait.  They are fishing out of desperation because what they are doing cannot stand on the moral or LEGAL ground that was founded by our forefathers.
Your actions, not their words define you.  November is not so far away, and that will be a defining time for our country.  Enjoy a glass of water and understand that YOU can make a difference and should.

Until Next Time!

Another day that will live in infamy…

Today, our elected officials took a giant leap toward socialist rule in the United States of America.

What true American is not disgusted?

What true American does not see this is socialism in our land, thrust upon us by the electorate that refuses to listen?

What true American disagrees that health care could be improved?

For years I have stuck to the belief that I can be bi-partisan and vote on issues and not on party lines.  I suppose the one thing the Democrats have done, in addition to Sunday Bloody Sunday, is either made me a staunch Republican or ready to join arms with the Tea Party.  I have yet to decide but it’s one of the two.  At this point I will support both of them just to be rid of the Democrat socialist bull.

The liberal has taken deep root in our educational system.  The liberal influence in our educational system is ridiculous.  The moral decay of our country abounds, yet is it more heinous to have “under God” in the pledge?  But it’s okay to have books that talk about sex with 5th graders?  Global warming as part of their education?  I cannot wait to read my daughter’s social studies book with her next year and tell her the whole truth.  Something they surely won’t do.  You cannot escape liberal socialist ideals in Academia.  Ideals are one thing and good to aspire to, but not at the expense of the truth.  How many of you can name instances where ignoring mistakes in history led to repeating them?

With Freddy and Fannie, and now student loans in the government’s back pocket things in the financial aspect is not looking up either.  Unemployment continues to be high 10.4% in February 2010.  I guess Obama is looking to fill 16,000 jobs within the IRS.  What kind of Americans sign up for that job?  Hmmm desperate people who are about to lose their homes and where 1 in 10 are unemployed.  It is fortunate for Obama and his ilk that the liberal have some chattel to choose from.  They will get their good government job.  They will penalize us for not signing up for nationalized healthcare through the most terrifying federal agency the IRS.  The IRS can freeze your bank accounts, take what it wants, take your home and possessions and I don’t know about you, but I have heard how understanding they are through the whole process too.

So how many people are going to be imprisoned for failing to pay their healthcare tax?  What are they going to do with these people?  If I could not pay, would I be put in the only prison available in my community, a maximum security prison where I worked?  Or, would they have to devise some other forms of incarceration?  My mind goes to internment camps and detention facilities specially created to hold the new sort of criminal – the resistor.

Non-profit organizations like Acorn.  I don’t think I need to type more about that.  How about the Czars?

Now, thanks to our electorate, the deemocrats will soon to be rooted in our doctor’s offices.  The government’s miserable failure of Medicaid, the VA healthcare system and Indian Health Services were just not enough.  They have to fail on a grand level – but this is not just a small segment of the population.  It will hit home when grandma is not deemed young enough to save, when preventative care is deemed unnecessary and when it is deemed that there are no surgical times available for a child who is in need of an appendectomy.  At that point, when personally affected and the realization sinks in–it will be too late.  The giant cogs will be crushing along in their slow governmental way.

So, it is for this and many other reasons I will support anyone who has the moxie to stand up to them.  I eagerly await the law suits and I know that many others do too.  I won’t deny that I won’t relish elections come November.  I will be eating popcorn with gobs of butter and salt, if that’s still legal, and cheering on conservative Republicans or Tea Party Patriots take out the Democrats.

This speech came from one of our Presidents…

It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes. Distinctions in society will always exist under every just government. Equality of talents, of education, or of wealth can not be produced by human institutions.

~Andrew Jackson, 07/10/1832

So for the sheep, chattel and plain old ignorant… you role is to improve yourselves.  Your right is to be allowed the pursuit of happiness, not to be handed everything you believe you deserve.

Our forefathers did not have things handed to them, they made this country great.  Look at communism and where it led.  Look at soft-socialist countries and their medical horrors that the liberals won’t acknowledge.

Are you ready to do your part?  Now is not the time to roll over and say “there’s nothing I can do.”

I did not call for…

I called Mark Begich’s office in Juneau this week.  I called to tell the dutiful aide, knowing that Begich would not be available to speak to, that I opposed the proposed healthcare legislation that Obama and the Democratic party were continuing to ram down the throats of the American people.

The dutiful aide asked what I, in particular, I was opposed to.  I asked him if he had a few hours.

I then proceeded to explain how I did not support the healthcare legislation.

The dutiful aide provided me with the standard leftist baloney and I just had to interrupt him.  I stated:

“I did not call to hear the democratic rhetoric, I called to tell you, as a constituent, I oppose the president’s healthcare legislation.”

I have been watching the news, reading articles and working with my children.

We watched Glenn Beck the other night, the topic was education and how the left has infiltrated the educational system and is trying to indoctrinate our children.

I am concerned.  I am very glad that my children do not see the way others in their generation see things.

Education is indeed a privilege and not a right.

My duty, as a parent, is to see that my children are educated.  I pay my local and federal taxes to ensure they are educated, but that’s not where my duty ends.  I am responsible for educating my children and for teaching them to question what they are presented with.  My daughter failed a test on climate change, she is a straight A student.  She doesn’t believe in Good Ole Al’s Global Warming.  Just like I don’t believe in government run healthcare!

I read a Facebook post by someone I know.  Who stated “??? I am native, why here in homer, i can not get free health care?? like nome or anchoarage?”

I wrote back, “Certain communities have health care services for native people. However, health care is never free, someone, somewhere pays the price!”

I have stopped attending the native clinic here.  The reason?  I get what I pay for.  Invest nothing, receive crap. I would only use that as a LAST resort.   Like welfare, which is meant to be used as a last resort.

Where’s my piece of the pie? I hear things like that all the time–it is unfortunately the message that is being thrown out there in overt and unseen ways.  The overall message reeks.  What happened to the world I grew up in?  What happened to strong moral grounds and dedication and hard work?

50 years ago, we earned it… with hard work and perseverance.   We did not get to be the greatest nation without elbow grease!  It wasn’t handed to us because we deserved it!  It was not our birthright!  It was a result of hard work.

We are not guaranteed a college education, healthcare OR happiness.  The pursuit of happiness is guaranteed by the Constitution.  We can work to achieve it.  The belief of so many these days, is that we deserve things to which the left wing wants us to believe, at the expense of the greatness of America.  I’d much rather live in a country where it is POSSIBLE to have good healthcare, to have the chance at making a reasonable living, the chance to live in a country with the freedom of speech, the right to vote and the pursuit of happiness.

I am tired of this world that accepts so freely the disgusting display of immorality, insincerity, unethical behavior and where duty is something that the government dictates, not the morals of society.

The rich don’t make the world evil, the big corporations don’t either.  The message that society has accepted and allowed has promoted the degeneration of our society.  Silence betokens consent.  Why are people not screaming about commercials that depict the prelude to a threesome, aired during prime time as the family watches a television show?  What parent thinks that is acceptable?

Commercials make me sick these days.  With a few exceptions.  The kind of commercials like the ones for values.com commercials are too few and far between.

We are losing our moral rudder.  All in the name of political correctness.  God is forbidden in schools, on buildings yet our government is protecting the terrorists that threatened our very lives?

I dream of a day that the moral compass of this country is righted.  Where hard work and perseverance can make a difference.  Where the word of a person is his/her bond.  Where the good nature of people kicks in, instead of the government telling us what we should all have, do, believe in and teach our children.

I did NOT call to be ignored and that message will be clearly sent next election day!

Until Next Time, tell me what you think!

Hope and Change–Who would have thought?

Hello everyone…

I have been giving some thought to a few things.

Number ONE–During Obama’s campaign he promised many things.  Many things that he has not followed through with or that were downright lies.

Bipartisan my #%@!!!!

What I am seeing that is more amazing than anything.  People who don’t even agree, agree on one thing.  Things in Washington D.C. have to change.

I got an email from someone, who talked about joining a tea party protest.  She is 50 years old and realized that she enjoyed standing up for something she believed in and was willing to protest for.

Now I am a self-avowed conservative, non-partisan person.  I have gone from being disillusioned that ordinary people cannot make a difference, to realizing that the only thing that is going to save our country.  Ordinary people making a difference.   I have hope that ordinary people can change the direction of our country.

There is still a measure of “real” America out there, much larger than was originally thought.  The leftist agenda can scream “Right Wing Radicals” all they want.   How RADICAL is it when so many want the same thing?  You could call their socialist agenda radical.

It all goes back to one thing-a mission.

Our mission, is the pursuit of happiness.  Our instruction manual is the Constitution.  When actions are not in line with the mission, it is evident because things just don’t work right.  Things are horribly wrong in America, but not to the point that we will not stand up for it.  If things are tough, we can come through it–provided we are fighting for the America we have in the past.  The United States of America has stumbled but it is not laying down.  Our leaders may have forgotten ethics, the “mission” we believe in but be rest assured, we have not!  The Constitution states we are guaranteed the “pursuit of happiness,” it does not state we are guaranteed happiness.  It is not the right of every American to have everything taken care of for them.  However, we do have the right to pursue happiness, and the current agenda in Washington, D.C. is seriously hampering that right.  Are you tired of it yet?  Has the smoke cleared, a few mirrors broken?

I have a feeling that many more will come together in honor of that true mission–abiding by the manual.

Are you ready for change you can be PART of?  Change you can be proud to say you stood up for?

Until Next Time!

Polarization of America – Part II

I just read a post on Facebook that fully illustrates how polarized America is right now over healthcare.

First of all, why is it that it so many are lead to believe this is the ONLY chance in the world to fix healthcare.  When something is painted as the ONLY option, people start being frightened and overwhelmed with a sense of urgency.  I call BS. You listen to the shady politicians and slipstream media (thanks to my husband for that term) then you will think the ONLY chance to fix healthcare is NOW… If that is what you believe you may want to read another blog, I refuse to be forced into a stampede like an ignorant fool.

The country is being divided into Left and Right, Liberal and Conservative, Republican and Democrat and whose side of the fence do you sit on??  What if you don’t want to sit on either?  What if you don’t believe that 23 MILLION uninsured is acceptable given the huge cost the CBO is figuring.  Now I have a question, those 23 million uninured–how do they discount those folks?  Isn’t this supposed to be universal healthcare for everyone? Do you really want your healthcare decisions to be made by people like Harry Reid?????

The stimulus is failing, the economy is failing, unemployment is going up and taxation seems to be their only answer.  The debt is burgeoning and our children and grandchildren will be paying for the mistakes of herded chattle for a long time.

Demand a better solution; demand that our politicians have to pay for their insurance after they are done serving their terms; demand that illegals who don’t pay into taxes don’t receive benefits; demand insurance reform; demand pharmeceutical reform!

Divided people are a weakened voice, only to be arguing with each other while the wolves in Washington DC decide our fate for us.  What do you think?

The United States Constitution does not provide us with the right to health care.  It does provide our states to be responsible for the things not covered by the federal government.  Bring the power to the people, back to the states and demand your state do better.

Until Next Time!

Sarah Palin… tells it like it is!

I just sat in amazement over two things a minute ago.  After I read this on Sarah Palin’s Facebook page:

Really? A tax on national defense? I hear liberal Congressional proposals and I, like most Americans, wonder if they’re serious. We’re going to put a price tag on security?

With Congress and President Obama spending money on everything at breakneck speed, it’s interesting that they are only now getting nervous about spending – but only when it comes to providing the necessary funds to complete our mission in Afghanistan. They don’t need a new “war tax” to fund a strategy for victory in the war zone. They simply need to prioritize our money appropriately.

I find it telling that the Pelosi-Reid Congress is only cost-conscious when it comes to our national defense. Scary. Nonsensical. Unacceptable.

– Sarah Palin

The things that gave me a moment’s pause and amazement:

  • Sarah will tell it like she sees it, that is awesome in light of the sugar coated crap we are fed nearly daily from the current administration and congress.  The fact that she will do this is awesome.  I am proud that we are still people who refuse to pander to the politicians and will be a voice of the people.
  • That the congress would actually consider this in light of what has been going on in our country.  Read this National Review article for more information on it.  This reaaaalyyyy discourages folks from making more money, what happened to the American dream?  Work hard, make money and take care of yourself and your family?  The land of Milk and Honey and Golden Opportunity seem to have been forgotten in the current administration!    It’s more of lets break you, tax you, make you dependent on us (so we can determine what is best)… If you are doing well we will tax you more so perhaps you’ll eventually fall in line.

People need incentives to make more money, not fear of taxes.  We need defense, just look at 9/11 and the state of the current affairs.  The Fort Hood massacre for example.  The most amazing thing is that our current leader is presenting America as a weak state in addition to his weakening of our economy and attempting to break the American Dream to promote socialism.

He thinks he may be winning, but he is fortunately wrong.  He is making choices that leaves appearing more vulnerable and weak.   The power of America did not come from a just a great president.  The power of America comes from the people and America is much stronger when the people are behind their president.  I believed that previous presidents, even flawed ones, did not attempt the kind of “fundamental change” that Obama is trying to impose.  Regardless of party, I have stood by either Democratic or Republic presidents, even if I did not vote for them.

However, I can’t in good conscience stand by the President.  I am sure I am not the only American who thinks this way.  A great president can bring together the people, instead ours is dividing them.  America needs to wake up, stand up and verbalize loudly, do not back down from your politicians. Write them all, call their offices, arrive at their legislative offices and if they are not present, ask to speak to an aide.  Keep them so overwhelmed with voices of displeasure that eventually, some of the brighter politicians will take note.  Fortunately, they appear to have the herd mentality, and if a few of them start swinging over to actually listening to their constituents, who knows, we might just have a stampede.  Demand to be heard.  Explain how their current direction and votes are NOT what you agree to.

The power still lies within the people, providing they are not lying down on the job themselves.

Until Next Time!

P.S. Write Mark Begich, maybe he will respond eventually.  I still have not received my reply.  I think I will call next and ask for an appointment with him at legislative office here in town.  Think that will happen?  Haaa I doubt it.  But I sure would love to publish the rejection.  I think I will ask for their denial of an appointment in writing should they not listen to me and at least answer, in real answers, not vague misdirection.  Good thing I have skills in that I can use with the politicians, I work with criminal offenders.  There are some similarities between the two.  Entitlement and thinking errors are two things I can name of right off the bat.  Give me more time, I’ll come up with some more.
